NIXON PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY plus ANAHEIM PACKING DISTRICT Food Hall - Saturday, March 16, $52, Yorba Linda and Anaheim In late 2016, the Nixon Library re-opened after a $15 million dollar renovation. A project that took its aged and staid galleries down to the studs, replacing them with nearly 70 new exhibits tapping the library’s vast archives of presidential documents and artifacts. From there, we’ll journey to the Anaheim Packing District, a former Sunkist citrus packing facility built in 1919. Abandoned for decades, the building has been reborn as a multi-story food hall and one of the hottest attractions in Anaheim!

KELLOGG ESTATE TOUR and DOCENT TOUR OF ARABIAN HORSES- Sunday, April 7, $79, Pomona 1925, W.K. Kellogg, the cereal magnate, purchased 377 acres for his Arabian horse ranch and winter home in Pomona. He later donated the ranch to Cal Poly Pomona College, whose Equine Studies students continue the tradition of hosting the fabulous Arabian Horse exhibitions which demonstrate the grace, beauty and intelligence of these magnificent animals. Trip also includes a tour of the Kellogg House, shopping at the Farm Store, a brewery tour and a buffet lunch at the campus’ Kellogg West. We will then have a docent-led tour of the Kellogg stables with the opportunity to see these magnificent horses up close and in person!
CENTRAL COAST by RAIL, HEARST CASTLE, APPLE FARM INN, MORRO BAY HARBOR CRUISE- April 8-10, $498 Double/$627 Single On this trip we will board the bus and travel to the train station in Oxnard. Once there, we’ll board AMTRAK for a train ride to our final stop San Luis Obispo! Our luggage will be sent ahead via the bus. Once you arrive, there will be time on your own at downtown San Luis Obispo for shopping and dinner! In the afternoon, you will be transported to the deluxe Apple Farm Inn – combining the charm of a wine-country inn with the conveniences of a luxury hotel featuring cozy rooms with fireplaces and a nightly wine tasting reception. On day 2, we depart for a tour of Hearst Castle! Lunch is on your own that day at the Main Street Grill in Cambria. After lunch, we will stop for a tour of Mission San Luis Obispo followed up by included dinner at the legendary, quirky Madonna Inn! After we check out on Day 3, we drive to Morro Bay where we will take an hour harbor cruise. Brunch is on your own that day at IHOP. We will then continue home by bus. GUIDE DOGS of AMERICA and TOURNAMENT OF ROSES MANSION- Thursday, April 18, $78 Ever wonder where they train the guide dogs that give people new opportunities for greater independence, enhanced mobility, and social interaction? On this trip, we travel to Sylmar for a morning, docent tour of the training program and kennels. Lunch is included in Pasadena at Buca di Beppo. After, we take a short ride to the Tournament of Roses Mansion and Wrigley Gardens. Once the Wrigley Mansion (the home of chewing gum mogul William Wrigley), this estate serves as the official headquarters of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.

A Tribute to Huell Howser -JULIAN, CA and the OASIS CAMEL DAIRY-Wednesday, May 15, $67 Julian, CA was described as "the ultimate Sunday drive destination" by PBS’ legendary, host Huell Howser. We follow in his footsteps as we start the day with a tour of “Oasis -America’s First and Only Camel Dairy.” This camel dairy has been featured on Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe, Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmerman and Huell Howser’ s California Gold. From there, we spend the rest of the day in the charming gold-mining town of Julian. Nestled among oak and pine forests in the beautiful Cuyamaca Mountains (elevation 4,200 feet). The entire town is a designated historic district and the shops and restaurants are housed in Victorian-style buildings dating back to the 1870s. Fogo is an authentic, fine dining, full service Brazilian Steakhouse that has been setting the standard in Brazil for the past 35 years. The menu includes delectable cuts of fire-roasted meats such as sizzling steaks, lamb, chicken and pork carved tableside by Brazilian trained gaucho chefs. Also offered is a gourmet salad and sides bar consisting of salads, fresh-cut vegetables, cured meats, smoked salmon and imported cheeses, as well as a variety of traditional Brazilian side dishes such as the world famous such as pão de queijo (warm cheese bread). From there, we’ll drive a few blocks to The Broad Museum. A contemporary art museum named for Philanthropist Eli Broad (of KB Homes) who financed the $140 million building which houses the Broad art collection. If Silver Lining Travel cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund. Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of an event, Silver Lining Travel has the right to either issue a full refund or transfer funds to the same event at the new future date. Persons wishing to cancel their reservation 45 calendar days prior to an event will not receive a refund. Any cancellations made prior to the 45 calendar date are subject to a $10 cancellation fee.
